Holy Day Christmas Eve

It may be just the two of us celebrating the holidays in our home this year, but Srajan and I are grateful that we have a table, and have food to serve on our plates.

Part 4 All I Want ^for Xmas

No, we’re not carving a Xmas turkey or serving hot cranberry sauce with all the trimmings. We’re cooking a sweet potato, parsnip, squash, dried apricot and sultana Tajine, simmering in caramelized onions spiced with Harissa condiments from the Middle East.

…If you’ve been following our Daughters of Mother Christmas and Sons of Father Christmas SoulCollage® card-making series, you’ve made your portfolio, you have your cards and named them. Now for the treat, how to do a reading.

First, a few things to consider: When you pose a question, it’s important how you ask it. Prepare. Contemplate the question. Be specific and indulge in the details. Write the question in a journal, or keep it in mind as you handle and shuffle the deck.

Be aware of your attitude, your disposition, and your frame of mind. In other words, don’t be flippant. Don’t be disrespectful. Don’t treat the cards and what they offer casually.

Devote this time to prayer, and focus. Consider how you might be the prayer, and at the same time, the one who prays: Remember, the images you collaged on these cards represent the voice of your higher wisdom; so be kind, be generous, and open to receive.

My Buddha. My Self.

My Buddha. My Self.

It’s customary to have the 3 Transpersonal Cards* present while doing a SoulCollage® reading. If you don’t have this trine in your deck, what I suggest is take three pieces of paper, write Source on one, Soul-Essence on the second, and The Witness on the third. Place them in the middle of the table to honour Consciousness, Spirit, and God the Creator where everything originates and everything returns. *To learn more about these 3 Transpersonal Cards refer to Seena Frost’s, SoulCollage® Evolving.

Just for the record, a SoulCollage® reading is nothing like the Tarot. There’s no book with a list of names and the text that defines them.

The answer you voice from your SoulCollage® cards refer and relate to the question at hand. This means that the cards and their messages change and evolve like you do. Even though the same card might appear several times in any of your readings, the card’s message will be different every time because it’s answering a different question.

This is what makes SoulCollage® unique and personal. The cards and their images collaged by you tap into your higher wisdom, the source of your knowing. Stands to reason why you make your own cards, and why when asking for an answer you should use your personal deck and not somebody else’s.

After all, you are the expert of your life. No one knows you better. As you add more cards, consider your SoulCollage® deck a living, visual, autobiography.

So, let me consider my question, and let us proceed with a reading:

A couple of weeks ago our beloved kitty died of kidney failure. Ours was a ten year friendship, and I grieve her loss. My question pertains to the sorrow I feel and how to cope with this loss.

Now, with your own question in mind, from the portfolio remove the cards with the images faced-down. Close your eyes and shuffle the deck.

When you’re ready, choose the first card and place it on the table to the left.

Choose the second card and place it to the right of the first.

Select the third and place it to the right of the second. The trio should line up like this, then place your cursor over each card:

Consider your question. Turn over the 1st card. Contemplate the image, and using the phrase: “I am the One who…” begin to speak from the card.

Keeper of Resolve

Daughters of Mother Christmas: Keeper of Resolve I am the One who asks you to keep steady. Life is about loss and gain. There is wisdom in the cherishing you feel in your heart. Know that the love you shared and imparted is the resolve.

Consider your question again. Turn over the 2nd card. Contemplate the image, and using the phrase: “I am the One who…” begin to speak from the card.

Drowner of Sorrows

Daughters of Mother Christmas: Drowner of Sorrows Death is not the end. It connotes transformation. Drown the sorrows in the stream of life that flourishes and dissipates at will.

Consider your question once more. Turn over the 3rd card. Contemplate the image, and using the phrase: “I am the One who…” begin to speak from the card.

The Container of Roots

Sons of Father Christmas: The Container of Roots I am the One who manifests from Spirit. I am the solid sense of self you see as this body. I am a weave of every thought that conjures form. I am what you call impermanent yet everlasting. I am the memory and the root.

Mother Christmas

Now consider the cards as a group. Make comparisons. Locate similarities in colour, pattern, sense of place, theme, how they progress from one card to the other, are they part of the Daughters of Mother Christmas or the Sons of Father Christmas. What do these three cards have in common? What as a whole is the message?

I’m going to go with my gut feelings here and use my intuition on how to proceed. You can do the same or follow your own intuition and do whatever feels best.

Since two of my cards belong to the Daughters of Mother Christmas, I locate the card, contemplate the image while considering my original question, and ask what she has to share:

Mother Christmas: I am the One who knows your soul hurts and cries. Allow it. The shedding of tears when motivated by having loved so deeply is growth. Hold this part of yourself tenderly. When tears come from love recognize the difference.
